Spicy & Smashed Asparagus Toast

Ingredients

1 package IP Multi-grain Seeded Bread

2 cups Asparagus, ends removed

Juice of 1/2 lemon

1/4 tsp Ideal Salt

Red Pepper Flakes, to taste

Hot Sauce, to taste

Preparation

Prepare Asparagus Smash:

  • Steam the asparagus until tender, about 5-7 minutes. You can do this using a steamer basket over boiling water or by microwaving asparagus covered with a damp paper towel for 3-4 minutes.


  • Once tender, transfer the steamed asparagus to a food processor or blender.


  • Add salt and lemon juice to the steamed asparagus in the food processor or blender.


  • Puree the asparagus until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.


  • Set aside.


Assemble the Toast:

  • Toast bread slices.

  • Arrange the toasted bread slices on a plate.

  • Spread a generous amount of the prepared asparagus smash over each slice of toast.

  • Sprinkle red chili flakes over the asparagus smash according to your desired level of spiciness. Finish off by drizzling a bit of hot sauce over each toast for an extra kick.


Serve the Spicy & Smashed Asparagus Toast immediately while the bread is still warm and crispy.
