Ingredients
1 package IP Multi-grain Seeded Bread
2 cups Asparagus, ends removed
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1/4 tsp Ideal Salt
Red Pepper Flakes, to taste
Hot Sauce, to taste
Preparation
Prepare Asparagus Smash:
Steam the asparagus until tender, about 5-7 minutes. You can do this using a steamer basket over boiling water or by microwaving asparagus covered with a damp paper towel for 3-4 minutes.
Once tender, transfer the steamed asparagus to a food processor or blender.
Add salt and lemon juice to the steamed asparagus in the food processor or blender.
Puree the asparagus until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.
Set aside.
Assemble the Toast:
Toast bread slices.
Arrange the toasted bread slices on a plate.
Spread a generous amount of the prepared asparagus smash over each slice of toast.
Sprinkle red chili flakes over the asparagus smash according to your desired level of spiciness. Finish off by drizzling a bit of hot sauce over each toast for an extra kick.
Serve the Spicy & Smashed Asparagus Toast immediately while the bread is still warm and crispy.
